The World Health Organization (WHO) warns that Europe is expected to see more than two million Covid deaths by March.

The WHO said the continent was “in firm grip” of the pandemic and expected “high or extreme stress” for hospitals in 25 countries.

Dr. Hans Kluge said that in order to live with the virus “we have to take a ‘vaccine plus’ approach”.

He also suggested reintroducing restrictions such as “wearing masks, washing hands, ventilating interiors”.

He added, “As we near the end of 2021 let’s do everything we can by getting vaccinated and taking personal protective measures to avoid last resort bans and school closings.”

According to the WHO, the three main factors behind the high cases in Europe are the prevalence of the highly transmissible delta variant; People who are not vaccinated and lose immunity.
